Merry Christmas- Three Challenges in One!

Hi Stampers!!

I hope you will have a chance to visit all of the above sites to check out the wonderful Design Team samples as well as their fantastic galleries!

To create this card:

Using the Lost Lagoon and Smoky Slate Stampin’ Write markers, scribble some color onto a craft sheet or plastic bag.  Spritz with water and lay a piece of Whisper White into the moistened ink, lift and allow the paper to dry.

Once this layer dried, it appeared as though the Smoky Slate was too watered down so I added Ranger® Tim Holtz® Weathered Wood Distress Stain and spritzed it with water.

Once the panel was dry, stamp the snowflakes from the retired set, Patterned Pines using Smoky Slate and Lost Lagoon Classic Ink.

Add a bit of splattering using the Color Spritzer Tool and the Lost Lagoon and Smoky Slate Stampin’ Write markers.

De-static the panel using the Embossing Buddy® and stamp the snowflake image using Versamark™ ink.  Add Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat with the Heat Tool.
Allow the embossing to cool and add Ranger® Tim Holtz® Picket Fence Distress Stain over the snowflakes and blot with a paper towel.   Add a few “snowflakes” using a Faber-Castell White Pitt Pen, trim the panel and mount onto a piece of Lost Lagoon cardstock.

Add this panel to the Whisper White layer and adhere the 3/8” Lost Lagoon Taffeta Ribbon strip and triple bow.

De-static the lower portion of the card front using the Embossing Buddy® and stamp the sentiment using Versamark™ ink.  Add Silver Stampin’ Emboss® Embossing Powder and heat with the Heat Tool.

Mount the entire panel onto a piece of Lost Lagoon cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock, trim again and mount onto the Whisper White card base.

Add the 3/8” Lost Lagoon Triple Ribbon Taffeta bow along with the retired Frosted Finishes Embellishment to the center.

Adhere a few Rhinestones to the snowflake centers and around the sentiment to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Patterned Pines, Christmas Greetings (both sets retired)

Ink: Versamark™, Lost Lagoon, Smoky Slate Classic Ink; Stampin’ Write Markers- Lost Lagoon, Smoky Slate; Ranger® Tim Holtz® Distress Stain- Weathered Wood, Picket Fence

Paper: Whisper White, Lost Lagoon, Smoky Slate

Accessories: Embossing Buddy®, Heat Tool, Stampin’ Emboss® Silver Embossing Powder, retired Color Spritzer Tool, Faber-Castell White Pitt Pen, Rhinestones, Frosted Finishes Embellishment (retired), 3/8” Lost Lagoon Taffeta Ribbon

Sensible Woman- Two Challenges in One!

Hi Stampers!

I had two additional tags from the homemade “background” panel that I created for the previous post for the PPA227 Color Challenge, so instead of tucking them away for another day,  I decided to create another card :-)

I hope you will find time to visit both challenge sites- inspiration from all!  Here is the link for the Splitcoaststampers Master Sketch Challenge- so many sketches, so little time- lol!

To create this card:

As mentioned in the previous post (here), stamp the various images from the retired Established Elegance set using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink and Old Olive Classic Ink (for the scroll) onto Whisper White cardstock, masking a few images and coloring the images using Stampin’ Write markers- Crushed Curry, Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie.
Add a bit of distressing with the large splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge using Baked Brown Sugar Classic Ink.

Use the Note Punch to punch out the images and sponge additional Baked Brown Sugar onto the tags to “antique” the Whisper White cardstock.   Also punch two tags from Old Olive cardstock, cut the tags apart and mount behind the stamped tag images.

Add the Burnt Sienna Organdy Ribbon along the bottom (this ribbon is from my stash and is wired, so I adhered to the tag with Sticky Strip)- also add a piece at the top of the tag and tie with Linen Thread.

Mount a piece of Eastern Elegance Designer Series Paper (DSP) to a piece of Old Olive cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Crushed Curry cardstock and "antique” the Crushed Curry DSP using a Baked Brown Sugar Sponge Dauber.

Add the two strips of Burnt Sienna Organdy Ribbon to the center, slip the embossed strip of Very Vanilla cardstock (this was in my stash- previously cut and embossed) and add a strip of Old Olive cardstock to hide the seam of the two strips of ribbon.

Mount the entire panel onto the Pumpkin Pie card base.

Using My Digital Studio (MDS), insert the sentiment image onto a blank 8.5 x 11 document, reduce in size and print onto Very Vanilla cardstock.  Trim the image and create the banner points using the Hexagon Punch.

Create the rolled flowers with the 1 ¼” Scallop Circle Punch- punch two scallops from Pumpkin Pie cardstock, carefully cut a wavy spiral from the outside edge toward the center, roll up and adhere in the center (I use Hot Glue to adhere).

Using the Bird Builder Punch, punch the leaves out of Old Olive cardstock, adhere the leaves behind the flowers and add a rose to the top of each tag.

Add the tags and the sentiment to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.  Add a few Pearls to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Established Elegance, French Foliage, Gorgeous Grunge, Favorite Thoughts (MDS version)

Ink:  Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink, Baked Brown Sugar; Stampin’ Write Markers- Crushed Curry, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie; Printer Ink- Black

Paper: Whisper White, Very Vanilla, Crushed Curry, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie; Eastern Elegance DSP (retired)

Accessories: Big Shot™, Adorning Accents Edgelits™ (retired) , Adorning Accents Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder (retired) , Punches- Note, Hexagon, 1 ¼” Scallop Circle, Bird Builder; Sponge Dauber, Linen Thread, Pearls, Burnt Sienna Organdy Ribbon (from my stash)

Thanks again for visiting- I hope all of you have a wonderful week!!

Thanks for All that You Do- PPA227 and SUO110!

Hi Again Stampers!

This card was created for The Pals Paper Arts PPA227 Color Challenge as well as another card for the SUO110 SU-Only "Marker Fun" Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to visit the Challenge sites yet, I hope you will find the time to do so- atremendous inspiration from all!!

To create this card:

Stamp the various images from the retired Established Elegance set using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink and Old Olive Classic Ink (for the scroll) onto Whisper White cardstock.  Stamp the images of the key and medal onto repositionable note paper or scrap paper and cut around the images to use as a mask.

Mask the key and medal images and stamp the floral image as well as the script image (from French Foliage) using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink.   Color the images using Stampin’ Write markers- Crushed Curry, Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie.

Using the Note Punch, punch two tags from Old Olive cardstock, cut the tags apart and mount behind the stamped tag images.

Use the retired Slot Punch to punch holes at the top of the tag, insert the Pumpkin Pie Organdy Ribbon and tie with Linen Thread.
Using My Digital Studio (MDS), insert the bodice image onto a blank 8.5 x 11 document, enlarge and print onto Whisper White cardstock.  Carefully cut out the image (“fussy-cut”) and color with the Stampin’ Write Crushed Curry marker.

Create the rolled flowers with the 1 ¼” and ¾” Scallop Circle Punches- punch one of each from Pumpkin Pie cardstock, carefully cut a wavy spiral from the outside edge toward the center, roll up and adhere in the center (I use Hot Glue to adhere).

Using the Bird Builder Punch, punch the leaves from Old Olive cardstock and trim to a smaller size to match the flowers.  Adhere the leaves behind the flowers and add the smallest rose to the center of the bodice.

Use the Big Shot™ with the retired Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder (ink the smooth side of the interior of the folder first with Baked Brown Sugar) and emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Trim the embossed panel and mount onto a piece of Old Olive cardstock, trim again and mount onto a piece of Crushed Curry cardstock.

Add the embossed panel to a piece of Whisper White cardstock, trim and mount the entire background panel onto a piece of Old Olive cardstock, trim again and mount onto a piece of Crushed Curry cardstock and trim once more and mount to the Pumpkin Pie card base.

Add the tags to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.  Add the sentiment (from the retired set, Absolutely Fabulous and banner points created with the Banner Punch) along with 1 ¼” Scallop Circle Pumpkin Pie rolled flower and Old Olive leaves.

Double the Stampin’ Dimensionals® to create additional height behind the bodice and add to the card front to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Established Elegance, French Foliage, Gorgeous Grunge, Absolutely Fabulous

Ink:  Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink, Baked Brown Sugar; Stampin’ Write Markers- Crushed Curry, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie

Thank You- A Clean and Layered Card for Two Challenges :-)

Hi Again Stampers!

I wanted to create another card this weekend and decided to play along with the CMCC46 Colour Me! Challenge along with the CCC49 Catherine and Cathy Thankful Challenge.

Again, I hope you will find the time to visit both sites to see the wonderful Design Team cards as well as their fantastic galleries!

I used quite a few of my scraps to create this Clean and Layered (CAL) card:

Ink the sentiment from the retired set, Short & Sweet using Night of Navy Classic Ink and stamp onto Whisper White cardstock.  Create the banner ends using a Hexagon Punch and mount onto Night of Navy cardstock, creating banners as well with the Hexagon Punch.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Wplus9 Studio Maple Leaf Die to cut the maple leaf from the retired Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper (DSP). Set the leaf aside for future use and punch out the negative using the 2 ½” Circle Punch.

Punch another 2 ½” circle punch from Night of Navy DSP and two circles from Night of Navy cardstock.  Layer the Night of Navy DSP behind the maple leaf die cut.

Layer the two Night of Navy cardstock circles together to create a frame and mount the maple die cut image onto the layered circles.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Adorning Accents Edgelit™ to cut a piece of Whisper White and Tangerine Tangelo Twist cardstock.

Use the Big Shot™ to emboss both pieces along the cut edge with the Adorning Accents Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder.

Begin the layering process- layer the two embossed pieces onto a piece of Night of Navy DSP, trim and mount onto a piece of Night of Navy cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Tangelo Twist cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Night of Navy cardstock, trim and mount onto the Whisper White card base.

Add a small strip of Night of Navy across the top of the embossed/die cut Whisper White layer and a larger strip of Night of Navy cardstock to the center of the panel.
Add the Retro Fresh Washi Tape over the larger strip in the center.

Mount the focal image using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and add the retired Sycamore Street Designer Button to the center of the leaf (with a small strip of Night of Navy to mimic thread).

Add the sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals® to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Short & Sweet

Ink: Night of Navy

Paper: Whisper White, Night of Navy, Tangelo Twist; retired Night of Navy, Sweater Weather DSP

Accessories: Big Shot™, Adorning Accents Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Adorning Accents Edgelit™, retired Sycamore Street Designer Button, Punches- 2 ½” Circle, Hexagon; Retro Fresh Washi Tape

Thanks again for stopping by- I hope you have a marvelous Monday!!

Thanks for Your Kindness- Three Challenges in One!

Hi Stampers!

I had a chance to spend some time in my craft room this weekend and decided to create a card using the AW29 Color Challenge along with the Mojo371 Sketch and SR254 “Being Thankful” Theme.

If you have not had time to do so, I hope you will have a chance to visit all of the challenge sites and check out the gorgeous Design Team projects as well as the other entrants- again, wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:
Ink the Apothecary Art image using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink and stamp onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.
Color the image using the AquaPainter™ along with Crumb Cake, Real Red and Hello Honey Classic Ink. Use the Stampin’ Write Real Red and Hello Honey markers to darken the petals and the Crumb Cake marker to add shadows.  Add a few highlights to the flower centers with the White Gel Pen.
Cut out the image using the Big Shot™ with the Labels Collection Framelits™ also cutting the same size frame from Real Red cardstock.
Cut the Real Red frame in half horizontally and adhere behind the focal image.
Mount the Crumb Cake piece of Moonlight Designer Series Paper (DSP) to a piece of Hello Honey cardstock.  Emboss a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock using the Big Shot™ with the Zig Zag Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder and add this layer to the lower half of the card front (it is difficult to see the texture of the embossing in the photo).
Add the strip of embossed paper lace (cut with the Big Shot™ along with the Large Scallop Edgelit™ and embossed using the Delicate Accents Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder- I had this strip ready to go in my stash :-)).
Adhere the Hello Honey honeycomb piece of Moonlight DSP to a piece of Real Red cardstock and mount onto the card front.
Add the ½” Crumb Cake Seam Binding Strip to cover the edge of the embossed Delicate Designs layer and mount the entire panel onto the Real Red card base.  Add the Apothecary Art focal image using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.
Stamp the sentiment from Wetlands using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink onto Whisper White cardstock, trim and create the banner points using the Hexagon Punch.
Adhere the sentiment to a layer of Real Red cardstock (creating the banner points using the Hexagon Punch as well) and mount the sentiment to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.   Add the Real Red button with the scrap piece of Hello Honey as “thread” to the far left side of the sentiment.
Add the strands of Pearls along the edge of the Crumb Cake ribbon and add the ½” Crumb Cake Seam Binding Triple Ribbon bow.
Create the rolled flower using Real Red cardstock and the 1 ¼” Scallop Circle Punch- punch the scallop circle, hand cut a wavy spiral from the outside of the scallop circle toward the center, use the Bone Folder to curl the edges of the petals a bit, roll up from the outside edge and adhere using Tombow Multi-Purpose Adhesive or a Hot Glue Gun).
Add the leaves from Hello Honey cardstock (created with the Bird Builder Punch) to the rolled flower and adhere to center of the bow to finish off the card.

HYCCT1413 There's Only One You :-)

Hi Again Stampers!

Here is another card that I created for the recent Hope You Can Cling To Challenge (HYCCT)  Card Drive at Splitcoaststampers for Paperpunchscissors aka Susie Lessard’s   HYCCT1413 “Heart Song” Challenge - (see the gallery here and the details here) along with the Splitcoaststampers SC337 Sketch.

The goal of the card drive is to provide cards for the cancer patients and their guests to send as encouragement, etc. for their personal use.  I tried to find verses that I thought could be used for various occasions and also tried to limit the layers (so they would not have to include additional postage) :-)

The sentiment is from a former Sale-A-Bration set called Vintage Verses but the carousel and embossing folder are non- SU! Quite a few of my family members love horses and music , so I could not resist these items when they went on sale :-)

To create this card:

Ink the Carousel stamp image (Inkadinkadoo) using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink onto Whisper White cardstock and color using the Black Stampin’ Up! Watercolor pencil- press down with various pressures to obtain darker shadows, and if needed, use an AquaPainter™ sparingly in the background to soften the pencil lines.

Cut out the image with the Big Shot™ and the Ovals Collection Framelits™, also cutting the same size oval from a piece of Basic Black cardstock.   Split the Basic Black oval in half horizontally and mount behind the focal image allowing just a bit of the Basic Black frame to show.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Music Embossing Folder (Darice) to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock, trim and mount onto the Whisper White card base.

Mount the focal image using Stampin’ Dimensionals™.

Stamp the sentiment using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink onto Whisper White cardstock (I used a previously printed sentiment from My Digital Studio (MDS) that was in my stash), trim and mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock.

Add the two Antique Brads to the corners and mount the sentiment panel onto the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals® to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Vintage Verses (MDS version), Carousel (non SU!- Inkadinkadoo)

Ink: Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink, Printer Ink- Black, Stampin’ Up! Black Watercolor Pencil (retired)

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black

Accessories: Big Shot™, Ovals Collection Framelits™, Non-SU! (Darice) Music Embossing Folder, Antique Brads

Thanks again for visiting- I hope you all have a fabulous weekend and stop by again soon!!

HYCCT1412 Warm Beary Fuzzies

Hi Stampers!

This card is another card (of the 35) created for the Hope You CanCling To Challenge (HYCCT)  atSplitcoaststampers.  This one is for LMcAree aka Lori’s  HYCCT1412 “Warm Fuzzies”  Challenge - (see the gallery here and the details here) along with the Splitcoaststampers SC347 Sketch Challenge.

I decided to use a retired set, Beary Best along with retired Autumn Spice Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) to create this fun card- I just love this paper and the bear images are so cute and "fuzzy"!

To create this card:

Ink the bear image from Beary Best using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock and color using the AquaPainter™ with Stampin’ Up! Watercolor pencils (these are retired as well, but still work great!) :-)

Stamp the large splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge using Baked Brown Sugar Classic Ink, trim the panel and mount onto a piece of Early Espresso cardstock, trim again and mount onto a piece of Cajun Craze cardstock.

Use the Big Shot™ along with the Argyle Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of retired Autumn Spice DSP, lightly sand with the Sanding Block, trim and mount onto a piece of Early Espresso cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Cajun Craze cardstock.

Mount the embossed background panel onto the Very Vanilla card base.

Add the vertical panel of Early Espresso Autumn Spice DSP (mounted onto a piece of Cajun Craze cardstock- this piece has a Cajun Craze design that did not show up well in the photo).

Stamp the sentiment using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock, distress with the large splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge using Baked Brown Sugar Classic Ink, mounted onto Early Espresso cardstock and again onto Cajun Craze cardstock.

Add the bear focal image and the sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals® to the card front per the sketch. Create the horizontal strip using a scrap strip of Olive Green Tweed Autumn Spice DSP mounted onto strips of Early Espresso cardstock (to mimic a layer of Early Espresso under the DSP- love using my scraps for this!), add the scrap strip of DSP to the center and adhere two More Mustard Buttons (with very thin strips of DSP as “thread” in the centers).

Mount this layered horizontal strip to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals® to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Beary Best, Gorgeous Grunge

Ink: Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink, Baked Brown Sugar; Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Pencils

Paper: Very Vanilla, Cajun Craze, Early Espresso; retired Autumn Spice Designer Specialty Series Paper

Accessories: Big Shot™, Argyle Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Sanding Block, AquaPainter™, retired More Mustard buttons

Thanks again for stopping by- I will post more of the HYCCT Challenges in the next few days :-)   I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend!

MIX93- Just for You

 Hi Again Stampers!!

Here is the 2nd Mixed Media card that I created for the Mix-Ability MIX93 Challenge at Splitcoaststampers.   The challenge is Artist Inspired and the featured artist is France Papillon .

I hope you have a chance to check out all the entries in the MIX93 gallery here – wonderful inspiration from all!

The panels for both cards were created using similar colors and techniques- I described in detail the technique for the background in the first part of my previous post here :-)

To create this card:

Once you create the distress main background panel from my previous post (see link here), use the Distressing Tool to distress a piece of Basic Black cardstock, mount onto the card base (again, I used the same heavier weight of cardstock that was used for the background panel).  Use a Sponge Dauber to add Ranger® Tim Holtz® Tea Dye Distress Stain to the white areas of the card base.

Add a few strands of 1 ½” Burlap Ribbon strands onto the front of the card and mount the distressed, ink background panel to the card front.

Using My Digital Studio (MDS), insert the Touch of Nature and Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp brush images into a blank document and resize (I had both of these already pre-printed in my stash).  I had printed both of these out onto the same type of cardstock as noted above for the background panel.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Ovals Collection Framelits™ to cut the flower image and also cut a larger oval from Basic Black cardstock.  Use the Distressing Tool to distress the edges of the Basic Black oval.

Color the floral image using Stampin’ Up! Watercolor pencils and wet with the AquaPainter™.  Add the white highlights using a Faber-Castell White Pitt Artist Pen and stamp the Gorgeous Grunge splatter stamp using Ranger® Tim Holtz® Tea Dye Distress Ink.

Use a Sponge Applicator to apply additional Ranger® Tim Holtz® Tea Dye Distress Ink over the entire image and apply Gesso (I used my finger) with stencils in a few areas.

Add the floral oval to the distressed Basic Black oval and mount the focal image onto the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Create the rolled flowers using Elegant Eggplant and Blackberry Bliss cardstock (I had a few of these flowers on hand so I used both colors).   To create the flowers- use Scallop Circle Punches- One each using the 2 ⅜”, 1 ¾” and 1 ¼”.  Hand cut a spiral from the outside edge of the scallop toward the center of the cardstock, scrunch the cardstock to break up the fibers and hand roll the flowers and adhere to the center of each scallop (I like to use Hot Glue to hold the flowers together)- here is a basictutorial...

Using your finger, lightly apply Gesso to the flowers and use the Faber-Castell™ Pitt Copper 252 Artist Pen to the petals to add a bit of metallic and mount the flowers onto the card front (again, I used Hot Glue).

Stamp the butterflies onto Whisper White cardstock using Elegant Eggplant Classic Ink and punch out using the Elegant Butterfly Punch.  Sponge Ranger® Tim Holtz® Tea Dye Distress Ink onto the image and add white highlights with the Faber-Castell White Pitt Artist Pen.

Punch out the Basic Black butterflies using the Elegant Butterfly Punch and mount the sponged butterflies onto the Basic Black butterflies. Add the two butterflies to the card front.

Add the sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and adhere Pearls to the butterfly centers as well as the corners to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Touch of Nature, Teeny Tiny Wishes- both MDS versions, Papillon Potpourri, retired French Script background

Ink: Elegant Eggplant; Faber-Castell Gelatos™, Faber-Castell Pitt Pen- Copper 252, Ranger® Tim Holtz® Distress Stains, Adirondack® Jim Holtz® Alcohol Inks

Paper: Basic Black, Whisper White, misc. cardstock (not sure of manufacturer)

Accessories: Big Shot™, Ovals Collection Framelits™, Gesso, Stencils, Distressing Tool, Sponge Dauber, Craft Mat, 1 ½” Burlap Ribbon, Punches- Elegant Butterfly, Scallop Circle Punches- 2 ⅜”, 1 ¾”, 1 ¼”; Pearls

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by- I am planning on posting more of the HYCCT challenge cards later this evening – have a wonderful Friday!!
